US and Israel Eye New Iran Attacks, Tehran Threatens Powerful Weapon (Open AI)
Washington: Tension between America, Israel and Iran seems to be increasing once again in the Middle East. According to The New York Times report, the US and Israel have prepared plans for options for new military attacks on Iran after the US midterm elections in November. The potential campaign could be short but intense. However, it is not yet clear whether US President Donald Trump will approve this plan or not.
On the other hand, Iran has warned to respond to any new attack. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman Hussein Mohebbi has claimed that his country is preparing to unveil a new weapon called 'Father of All Bombs'. However, he did not give any detailed information related to the technology, firepower or use of this weapon.
The New York Times report, quoting American officials and people familiar with the matter, states that the armies of both the countries are preparing for a possible military operation. It is also said to include practicing activities related to attacks through military flights over Iraq.
According to the report, possible targets could include Iran's nuclear bases, missile and drone stockpiles and energy-related infrastructure. Some US officials believe the new attacks could increase pressure on Iran's economy and force Tehran to make diplomatic concessions on issues related to its nuclear programme.
However, this is still a tentative military plan, not a final decision to attack. Trump has already postponed proposals related to a major military operation against Iran. The White House has also declined to comment on military plans and has said all options are open to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Iran's IRGC spokesman Hussein Mohebbi said that his country is preparing to unveil a weapon which is being called the 'Father of all bombs'. He claimed that this would be a new military challenge for America. However, independently confirmed information regarding the actual capability and nature of this weapon has not yet emerged.
Mohebbi also claimed that Iran's missile stockpile has increased by one and a half times after the 12-day war with Israel in June 2025. According to him, the firepower, range and accuracy of the missiles have also improved. He did not present detailed data to support these claims.
Amidst Iran's threat, the discussion regarding American bomb GBU-43/B is also intense. It is called 'Mother of all Bombs'. It weighs approximately 9,800 kg and is among the largest non-nuclear conventional bombs of the US.
According to reports, Trump has considered possible options of targeting Iran's deep underground nuclear facilities. However, according to experts, given the capability of this bomb to explode above ground, it may be challenging to destroy deep underground facilities built under strong rocks.
According to the New York Times report, America is preparing to increase its military presence in the Middle East. This includes aircraft carriers, marines, fighter aircraft and special operations military units. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week. According to the report, regional security threats were discussed, including the issue of possible new attacks.
Iran has warned that if it is attacked again, the scope of retaliatory action may increase. In addition to ships and energy installations, Iranian officials have also cited data centers and undersea internet cables as potential risk areas.
In such a situation, along with regional security, global oil supply, maritime trade and digital communications may also be affected. However, no definite assessment has yet emerged regarding these possible consequences.
At present, possible military plans by America and Israel and warnings of retaliatory action by Iran have increased uncertainty in the region. In the coming days, diplomatic talks, decisions of the US administration and military activities will be monitored.
